Rooted in the legacy of the Polish School of Textile, this project draws on the movement’s radical 1970s vision of material as a dynamic, ever-transforming force. Inspired by artists like Magdalena Abakanowicz, whose monumental woven forms challenged the boundaries of sculpture and fabric, I explore how garments and bodies shape one another in a constant exchange. This short book combines my own reflections and styling with archival and visual references to Abakanowicz’s work, and includes a contribution from Stefania Zgudka, Abakanowicz’s longtime assistant, whose essay offers an intimate view into the artist’s practice and deep connection to material. Together, these elements form an attempt to reconnect with a forgotten textile heritage and to revive the Polish School of Textile’s vision of fabric as a living, responsive medium.
